There are 2 very good and very powerful consoles out there at the minute, one by the name of Dreamcast and the other by the name of PlayStation 2.
For me the Dreamcast is the best one out of the two.
Here are some of my reasons:
1.GOOD GAME/BAD GAME?
The Dreamcast has much better games available at the moment. Which is not to say that the PS2 hasn’t got and wont bring lots of great games out. Its just they haven’t got a very good line up at the moment have they? All right they have GT3 'awesome game', Monkey island 'very fun to play great game' and a few others like red faction. But in the end I reckon they just haven’t got the best line up at the moment. Where as the Dreamcast has lots of great games, here is a list of a few:
Crazy taxi 1/2: Love this one to pieces (then it came out for the PS2, because it rocks)
Resident evil: code veronica:(wow double vision this ones coming out for PS2 as well I wonder why?)
Power Stone 1/2:wicked fun to play especially with yer mates, up to four players on PS2 by this I mean Power stone 2.
All the Capcom and Snk beat-em-up games (practically arcade perfect might I add)
Shenmue: wow what a game very realistic RPG u can even trek into the arcades of 1986 and play out run brill stuff)
And many other games which u might like but I haven’t mentioned here.
2.COOL STUFF!
Cool little extras like the memory cards that have the little visuals on (thus they were names VMU's). U can even play games on them so if ur going to ur mates and get bored on the way whip out the VMU and have a bash at a game.
Internet ready has been for ages while PS2's Internet has not arrived yet and could take a while yet.
The fact that U can have four players straight away! If u own a ps2 u need a multitap the cheek! Making u spend extra.
3.PRETTY PENNIES
The price of the Dreamcast for such a glorious piece of technology is so God Damn cheep (I reckon because they are really good consoles and there is a limited stock on them that they should be making people be charging more not less because soon they will be come like gold dust).
PS2's are too expensive its like PAY MORE GET LESS?? Would you normally do this? I think not.
Also the Cost of the games is also dropping U can get great games like sonic adventure 1 for £9.99 how good is that???
From all this I hope u go out and buy a Dreamcast today/tomorrow even if u own a ps2 don’t worry it will have its day but for now indulge in a real GAMES CONCOLE not just the thought of what’s to come!
Also some of the games must be good or they would really be converted to the PS2 would they?
And as for SEGA they really do make some of the best arcade games ever.
When I was saying you should get a DC console, I still think you should because there are still games in production for the Dreamcast that will be very good. Plus the fact that If they were to come onto the PS2 you know that they would be out for the home console first.
Which over all means that having a Dreamcast isn’t that bad because that are cheep and easy to get hold of. So if you own a PS2 and a Dreamcast then your laughing because you enjoy the best of both worlds don’t you.
All I was saying is that Dreamcasts have better games out at the mo. I wasn’t dissing the power of the PS2 or its games because I like PS2's.
Crazy Taxi is already been converted by acclaim and conversions are never perfect but this is pretty good.
Crazy Taxi 2 is a wonder but Sega may decide to put it onto the PS2 but until then we have simpsons road rage to look forward to.
RE code veronica has arrived on the PS2 in America TODAY and should be here in 3 weeks as the complete edition with extra elements, moves, fmv and the wesker's report DVD.
Capcom vs snk is on it's way too and may Sega games such as space channel 5, 18 wheeler, zombie revenge are on the way not to mention fur fighters, the ps2 sega exclusive game Rez and the dreamcast canceled half life.
I follow resident evil and bought a dreamcast because of code veronica but it's still a fantastic console and Sega make the best arcade games along with namco but The dreamcast has a long list of back catalogue which the PS2 has yet to make.
Earlier in the year i would have easily said that the dreamcast has alot more going for it but the PS2 has taken the lead and I can't wait for some of the games.
RES
1.GOOD GAME/BAD GAME? Lets have a look at your list.
Crazy taxi 1/2: CT1 converted to PS2, CT2 planned.
Resident evil: code veronica:Converted to PS2, with graphical and storyline updates.
Power Stone 1/2: there are many 4 player PS2 games in all genres.
All the Capcom and Snk beat-em-up games: Capcom fighters are allready on ps2, Capcom Vs SNK is currently in development to be released this year
Shenmue: Onimusha? MGS2? Final Fantasy? (FF now out in Japan)
2.COOL STUFF!

Personal opinion. I thought it was too expensive for a gadget that diddnt do all that much, the games were pretty cheddar and it made the controller bulky and heavy. You could get a Gameboy original for the money.
Internet ready: The DC has been for ages while PS2's Internet has not arrived yet and could take a while yet.
The DC internet connection was only 56k, restricted to 33k in this country. Their server packed up from overloading every day for ages on release, it was on Watchdog. PS2s broadband offers so much more due to the bandwidth, games like Tony Hawkes 3 with 8 players in the same arena would not be possible on the DC.
The fact that U can have four players straight away! If u own a ps2 u need a multitap the cheek! Making u spend extra.
The PS2 pad (rumble is standard) is £20, and the tap is £20. Get 1 pad free with the machine, 4 player for a cost of £80. SR sell the DC pad for £20, and the Rumble pack for £17. 1 pad free, 3 pads at £60, 4 rumble packs at £68, 4 player for a cost of £128. Great savings there of -£48... Also, if they like, Sony can make 8 player games using 2 taps. There is no tap available for the DC (that I know of, I may be wrong on that one, but SR dont sell them.)
3.PRETTY PENNIES

Admittedly, the console was £100 cheaper on launch including the modem, but then the PS1 was £300 on launch, yet it has been a more successful machine than the dreamcast, outlasting production, higher sales and more games. Buy a dc at lunch and a dvd player, and the PS2 is the cheaper buy. Expect the price to fall with the launch of the GC.
> (I reckon because they are really good consoles and there is a limited stock on them that they should be making people be charging more not less because soon they will be come like gold dust).
If the general public believed this then there wouldnt be DCs with 10 games on ebay for less than £70. SR sell DCs for £80 with a game. Hardly gold dust, really....
PS2's are too expensive its like PAY MORE GET LESS?? Less? A higher spec machine at the start of its life with a DVD player included and PS1 compatible? Seems you get more to me...
Also the Cost of the games is also dropping: as they are on the PS2. New games are coming out at £15, and I got a PS2 game for a tenner the other day.
> From all this I hope u go out and buy a Dreamcast today/tomorrow even if u own a ps2 don’t worry it will have its day but for now indulge in a real GAMES CONCOLE not just the thought of what’s to come!
Yes, it has some great games that you will enjoy, and in the end that's what it's about, but the PS2 has many great games available at the moment, and as for the thought of whats to come? Buy a DC today and get a machine that has stopped production, with games ending soon. Add to this that all the top DC games are coming to the PS2, alongside its own fantastic lineup of over 300 games in production, a back-catalogue of 600+ PSD1 games, and the bright future as we all know.
I like these "My console is better than yours" posts, but they are a lot more interesting with a bit of research....
:)
> This will be a controversial post I can see it already.
If you had insisted you were right, it may have been controversial - but you used those magic words 'my opinion' - and no-one can argue with that!
Agreed at the moment the DC has a better selection of games than the PS2. But Production of games for the DC will finish in early 2002 wont it? The DC doesnt have a very bright future so i opted to buy a PS2 instead. Personally i feel the PS2 is pritty poor at the moment with GT3 the only outstanding game, but i do have faith in the future of the machine. And i'm sure it will go on as long as the Psone did.
