Please don't tell me that's the case, that would be stupid-upid.

I simply said that that was the official line from Sony.
I do however find it hard to believe that they would simply 'forget' to include Macrovision.

If they implemented it properly then there would be no reason for the RGB problem... after all, RGB is already supported by games, so to program it for films must be very easy.
One more thing. Why are you believing Sony- they have yet to give a genuine reason for the problem!

According to Sony, PS2 does support Macrovision.
It's an integral part of the DVD standard, which Sony were a major part of developing, so it's unlikely that they overlooked it.
Sony clearly rushed the design of the PS2, and couldn't implement Macromedia encryption in time. SO in order to not be sued in accordance to DVD rules (which say players must not allow DVD to video copying), Sony just made DVD's green through RGB! Great!

You shouldn't have any problem recording from the S-VHS connection.
Though of course, this *would* be a theoretical question, wouldn't it? You're not actually telling the world that you want to copy DVDs...

Yep, but what I said earlier is the official line from Sony. They also say that the PS2 does support Macrovision, though, so everyone so far is at a loss when explaining the reasoning behind it.
