I've always been a big fan of Super Mario since the very first installment on the NES Mario 1. Mario 3 being my favourite which my brother, my dad and I I stayed up all night playing on numerous occasions. The minute I saw this game was being released I really started looking forward to its release.

It was released on my birthday but due to financial problems neither I could buy it or have it bought for me. After seeing the adverts on TV recently and me pining for it my girlfriend suprised me and bought it for me for Valentines Day.

I was delighted when I opened it and I was even more happy when I put the game on.

From the layout of the worlds to the 2D/3D side scrolling platform of the levels I could tell that Nintendo had majorly used Mario 3 as a guide and because of that I was whole heartedly greatful for making the game that I truly wanted.

Each world is different from the last with unique enemies and powerups to aid you in the environment that you are in. Penguin Suits for the Ice World, Ice Bullets for levels with Fire, Fire Bullets for Ice levels etc.

Bowser and the Koopas play an integral part of the game as ever and the Castles and Ghost Houses that you work your way through to fight them in are based on Mario 3 on the NES and Super Mario World on the SNES.

As the game goes on, I felt more nostalgic and I honestly felt like a child while I played and play it. You should of seen the grin on my face as I got me a Yoshi in one of the ? boxes.

A new feature of New Super Mario Bros. is the ability to play with up to 3 friends for 4 player on the same screen action. It can make the screen a little cluttered and sometimes can cause frustration when them reviving can knock you into an enemy or down a hole but its fun and enjoyable none the less. It also stops the missus' moaning about me being selfish because she can play at the same time.

Overall this game is everything I hoped for and more, its worth every penny that it cost my girlfriend as not only will and does it give you hours of fun it also rekindles so many memories and feelings from my childhood its worth it alone for that.
