I'm looking to upgrade my antivirus software and am currently running Norton Internet Security 2006. I find that it uses a lot of the system when loading and also slows my PC down at times.
I've a pretty decent PC so its a little frustrating for it to grind to a halt at times when loading the Norton software at startup.

I've been looking at McAfee Internet Security as an alternative and have been told in the past that this is a great alternative.

So, anyone have any opinions or other software I could try? That would be greatly appreciated...

P.S. I've found McAfee Internet Security on ebay for under £25 which is much cheaper than the retail of £40-£50 on many software sites. Anyone else used ebay for software? Its just the disc and no box but I assume that that's no problem?

Cheers in advance!

Are you determined to pay for something? :) AVG offers a free edition of their anti-virus software which works fine. And if you feel particularly paranoid you can install something like prevx1 too.

Linux.

Well, I hate all antivirus software with a passion. I have McAfee on my Windows box and I find it incredibly annoying. Norton is slow, but I find McAfee to be very intrusive, popping up in the corner when I'm trying to work to tell me it's downloaded a new update and wants to know whether to patch itself or something I don't particularly want to be interrupted by.
