Okay, just read one of the latest news articles, the one about the Haitian protests at comments made in GTA: Vice City. Rockstar have kindly removed the highly offensive line (similar sarcasm to the news article can be inserted here), but now a Haitian group is after a damages settlement.
Now this kinda makes sense, but surely $15,000 isn't that much to Rockstar. It really wouldn't surprise me if they just turned round and said, erm, okay, thanks, deal! Phew, that was a close one.
Its a lot of money to somebody like me, but seriously, was that the biggest number they could think of? The company just told millions of people to kill an ethnic minority, and they want $15,000 to make up for that. Its what, £9,000 ish? At absolute worse, Rockstar go without a cleaner for a little under a year, and just try harder to aim their paper rubbish at the bin. Problem? No.
Having said that, I don't think they should have to pay a penny though really. Silly idea.

The same thing happened with (I think it was) Desert Storm where you had to kill an Arab or something. That caused a little outrage, but if the guy was English, it would have been fine.

I did like that Space Invaders comment though, it kinda makes you think about all the other games that could have similar themes. For example, MOH - aren't the players encouraged to "Kill ze Germanz" and stuff, Snatch style. These days Germany is obviously one of the major friendly countries of the world, would they still take offence at games like that? No, they're better than that. What about the poor old Russians! The amount of games which have Soviet bad guys in. Perhaps its not the country itself, just the beliefs. I dunno. Who cares.

You never actually have to kill anyone. If you watch the scene after you're apparent killing, ambulances will appear and all the people will get back up. So they couldn't possible have been dead to begin with.
