One thing I have noticed in my many many years of playing games (well not sa many as some people) is that now there are alot of games based at older people than there are at young people.
I was brought up playing the likes of the spetrum, amiga, SNES, Dragon 32, PSX. It seems since the PSX was released games changed and seemed to be more appealing to the older generation. The first ever 18 certificate game I seen and played was doom, never seen any before that but now looking at the market there are loads.

This is probably down to the change in the standards of graphics, as they have improved so much the ability to make gorey and violent scenes in gaming is now possible and easy to do. But is gaming now aimed at a more mature market? It seems that some of the more popular games are the ones with a 15 or 18 certificate. The likes of resident evil games, Onimusha, GTA 3 are all aimed more at adults. When I started playing games hardly any adults I knew like playing games but now I know lots, there are a good few on these forums too.

So what brought about this change, some say it was sony and the PSX, it was the first console with games that suited adults and didn't have a "kiddie" image.
Do you agree? Or is it just the way they are made now appeals to adults as well as kids?

Gamers that were brought up on amigas and Sneses still want to play games, yet are not interested in the kids stuff. There is a market for people like us who wont let go, yet want to play something that interests us.
