My tv definetly supports ntsc mode, as I have been playing ntsc videos through it for years, but for some reason it's playing region 1 dvds in black and white. I am using the scart cable that came with the PS2, do I need to use another one?
please help, I'm desperate!

It's definatly the lead. It's not a scart one. Just a composite lead fed through a scart connector.

Hope this all helps!

I had the same problem, but got some very helpful advice from people here!
If you buy a genuine FULLY LOADED RGB Scart cable then I have been assured that this will then work normally! I've yet to sort this out so I can't confirm.

I have also heard that some Video recorders plat what is called pseudo NTSC...so it is possible that your TV isn't in fact NTSC compatible....still the RGB may work, but your in the same boat as me!

The cable with the PS2 isn't a genuine SCART cable. It's just got a SCART adaptor stuck on the end.
