get 2 the then try wait awile and get the first one preowned or on ebay really cheap!!
Ratchet and Clank 2 offers much bigger levels, and better guns. Also, it is very easy to get into, there's no way you need to play the first to get into the story.
At the end of the day though, you can't go wrong with either!

Personally I'd get both, but if I had to recommend just one it would be the sequel (sequels are generally better, Tomb Raider being one notable exception).
