Has anyone found a good anti-leach cgi script that works on Freeola?

Cheers,

I'm not entierly sure. Our servers are Unix based and the apache module seems quite different to my Linx apache module. All I know is that when I asked if they could fix the prolem I was told that it would take a lot of time and most likley cause security issues.

No, Freeola have a real problem with it. It effectively disables your htdocs and you have to fake another one.

Are u sure it just 'doesn't work'?

--Quote from Apache Manual

If you try to include a directive in an .htaccess file that isn't permitted there, any requests for documents under that directory will result in a '500 Server Error' error page and a message in the server's error log.

To be honest this would help me out a lot, being able to specify custom error pages makes a site look a lot more professional and specifying file types so you could use wap on your webspace would be a bonus.

Be honest, has this been purposely disabled?

Technical support do have several terms for the affect it causes. It doesn't corrupt your webspace or crash the server (it did take down our control pael when we tried to use one and this is all I can think of) but they just don't work.

There's a little red link just below the original topic saying "edit your details"

Tehc support told me it would corrupt my web space. Seems like scare tactics to me. Dunno why though.

BTW, can anyone tell me how to change the e-mail address I sign into these messageboards with? I can't seem to find anywhere on the site to change things.

Cheers,
Rikki

You would store the files in a radom directory such as kif/flabber/064315/mpgs. Then, write a script that checks the $HTTP_REFERER, then loads the file into itself and sends the appropiate MIME headers. I'm pretty sure it's possible, and secure.

Well, the guy at technical support said it had crashed it. I know it's unlikely but hey, that's what he said!

Turbo was going a bit OTT in saying it crashed the server. All it does is cause your web space to produce 500 errors.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Many thanks!!
Registered my website with Freeola Sites on Tuesday. Now have full and comprehensive Google coverage for my site. Great stuff!!
