I was wondering because I got a 2 month trial with the console which i'm currently using, but it said that it would charge the credit card after 2 months.

Soooooo, if it is £40 a year I will cancel it and buy the starter kit since it's the same price plus a headset!

They started charging my card on the 8th of this month, after 2 months free. I didnt realise :(

Apparently, if you buy a second Live kit (going for £30 in some places I've been told) and use the code on your current gamertag - you get an extra year's use, a spare headset and no charges to a credit card (until those 12 months are up that is)

Don't quote me on that mind!

you could use your 2 months free THEN buy a starter kit, but I found that playing without a headset sucks far too much.

£40 a year! xbox live is about £3 a month; the main cost is broadband!

And you are better off getting the starter kit wich has 1 year free, and comes with demo disk and headset.

If you pay monthly then it is £4.99.

I think the starter kit works out cheaper so yeah, you'd be wise to do such.
