I looked through a lot of the pages and didn't see any threads on the game so I thought I would post this just incase some people havent heard of it.

Below is taken from Gamespy.com article about the game as it won their "GameSpy PC Multiplayer Game of the Year Award for 2003"

"Originally intended as a retail expansion pack for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory was officially cancelled in February, with the multiplayer component planned as a free release. Little did we know how good it would turn out.

Expanding on the objective-based "Axis vs. Allies" gameplay of RTCW, this completely free package offered a new class (covert ops), six finely tuned maps, and months of some of the best online battles of the year. Every map in Enemy Territory was filled with great moments, whether the Allies were escorting a tank down narrow city streets while under constant attack, or making an Omaha Beach-like assault on an Axis base. Teams fought tooth and nail over every objective, and an innovative skill system allowed players to build up abilities over the course of three level campaigns.

Some people may have enjoyed the larger-scale warfare of PlanetSide, but for our money, Enemy Territory gave us the best multiplayer battles of 2003, with tons of different strategies for every map and class that didn't require weeks of experience (or a monthly fee!) It seems we're not alone -- six months after its release, Enemy Territory is the third most popular multiplayer game on our stats page, and second in terms of players packing each server. That's even higher than Counter-Strike! Now, if we could just convince them to make a few more maps..."

Like it says it's a free game, the only thing I paid for was the sleepless nights over the last few months. You can download the game here www.splashdamage.com/download.php (257MB Windows 258MB Linux) There are hundreds of servers, 10,000s of players. I tend to play a lot on the UK servers, usually the ones that allow 60 players. There are only 6 maps but evey game you play is different. I've probably done the same maps atleast a hundred times but I still tempted to go back on their. Infact I think I will bye bye. Oh and the games currently nominated for a BAFTA Game Award. Anyone else who plays the game, maybe we can team up ingame.

Played it ages ago, I remember it was one of the first large files I downloaded when I got my ADSL set up. Yeah it was pretty good, but I got bored quickly.

Enemy Territory™ Wins 2003 GameSpy PC Multiplayer Game of the Year!
Enemy Territory™ Wins PCFormat Best First-Person Shooter of 2003 (NEW)

Perhaps when this free game wins the BAFTA award, people on this forum will actually take notice of the game. No purchase needed just download and play. Maps have actual objectives rather than tedious deathmatches and capturing flags.
