Ok, I realise it's possible to change your iPod preferences to stop manually updating, which I've now done.

But.. once that's on, how do I select and choose a song or video to be put onto the iPod (and how do I put it across) with auto-updating?

All help appreciated

Ah thought that might be what you were looking to do.

Simple stuff really. When you plug in the Ipod (once you've set itunes to update manually) it will appear on the left of the screen. Then just drag and drop the tunes you want to add to it and highlight and press delete to remove songs on the iPod you want to remove from it.

I mean I don't want to auto update, so I can delete old music or videos yet not remove them from the iPod.

Basically, I wanna clear some space on the laptop

You mean you want it to auto update the tunes on your ipod each time you plug it in or do you want it to only update the songs you select?

If you have it to auto update it will add all the songs in your library that have a tick in the box beside them.
