When set to Application control does that mean the game/application will activate it purely for the game and then turn it off after or does it require it to be set from the card properties and thewn turned on in the game as well? I ran Max Payne 2 on top whack settings with 6X anti-aliasing and the game ran at a really solid frame rate. However when I left it on in the graphics card display tab and then in the game the frame rate drops slightly. Does it need to be switched on in both or just one of them? The same applies for Anisotropic filtering, does it need to be switched on in one or both?

Cheers!

Dont know about Ansiotropic filtering. If the card is set to 8x Anisotropic filtering then the game will run it. The problem would come when you try and run it twice like you did for anti-aliasing.

Cheers for the reply. With the Ansiotropic filtering what if the game only lets you choose between Bilenear, Trilinear and Ansitropic filtering without actually stating what level of AF is selected? In that instance do I turn it on from the display panel (eg at 8X) and then select the AF function from the game menu or would I select Bi/Trilinear and will the setting from the desktop over ride my selection?

If you set the anti-aliasing on in the settings for the card then it applys to all games that are run. So dont enable it in both the game and the card settings. Same applies to anisotropic filtering.
