Mainly because of that they are ps2 fanboys.
Sure Nintendo uses Mario, Pokemon and Zelda and several other series over and over again, but are really Sony any better?
We have GTA, GT, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot(yes I know about the multiplatform remake), Spyro the dragon.
And Sony has not even been in the market as long as Nintendo.
They will probably have to use their franchises over and over again till we will get to that point were XBOX 2 owners is accusing Sony of being unoriginal.

Note: Just because they were on a single Sony format first, it does not mean that they are a Sony franchise.
A gaming series developed by Sony = Sony franchise.
A gaming series made by a third party, but released on a Sony console = Not a Sony franchise.
Zelda in the last 2 generations have had 2 releases a console...
As regards new franchises this time round we have Pikmin, MEtroid Prime (new in a way)... Animal Crossing (although officially started on the N64)....
Nintendo always make new franchises... and bar Mario Party they don't overuse them... they keep them alive like the fans want them too but they only ever release them when the games are so much better than the original.
