I have a newsletter script on my website, and as you know those things take ages. Is it possible to send the output before the script has finished exectuting, so I know who's been done and how far there is to go?

Thanks in advance.

Just put flush(); in the script where you want it to send output to the screen. For example:

$bob = dodgy_log_function();

echo $bob

flush();

$joe = another_function();

echo $joe;

flush();

?>

Are there similar functions for Perl CGI? (ie. the timeout and flush functions)

Cheers,

At the start of your script, simply put:

set_time_limit(0);

This will disable the maximum execution time limit.

Yeah, I know. Thanks.

Also, is there someway to negate the timeout time on scripts? I can use .htaccess (unlike Freeola! I really nackered my account once.... he he he).

Yes we use this on the domain search at GetDotted.com

The function you want is flush();

Notice on a domain search that it display's each one as it finds it rather than waiting for all of them before rendering the page.

It can sometimes make a difference.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Many thanks!!
Registered my website with Freeola Sites on Tuesday. Now have full and comprehensive Google coverage for my site. Great stuff!!
