I read today (in The Sun, so it might not be true!), speed cameras are now to be sited in clearly visible locations and are to be painted bright orange instead of grey.

Whenever I see a speed camera or speed camera signs I slow down (if I'm going too fast). This is the effect that we want from speed cameras.

If you place a speed camera outside a school for example and everybody can see it chances are nearly all motorists will pass that school at the correct speed.

HOWEVER if you hide it behind a tree many motorists will be speeding past that school and may very well injure or kill a child in the road.

I think a sensible descision has been made a last.

A debate on this could go on for days, its all about what your own personal opinions are. I think that making them more visable is good for the areas where they are, cars will slow down and obey the limit for that area. But I also believe that laws should be obeyed, speed cameras are there to catch people who break the law, its their own fault if they are caught. So after they slow down to avoid the camera alot will then speed up again which isn't safe for the places without cameras.

I seen pictures where people vandalise speed cameras, they even have a website, this is wrong and these are the people who are out to break the law, the only reason that they dislike them is that they catch them doing something thats wrong. I still agree though, anything that can help reduce accidents is a good thing, dangerous drivers aren't though and some could be getting away as they know exactly when to slow down.

No I'm not. It's going to be judged by the Internet Manager when he gets back to work tommorrow.

Another thing that really annoys me about speed cameras and could be very dangerous are those people who are over the top with the braking when they see a camera. I was following someone the over day when we came into a 50 zone (on the M11 just inside the M25). They saw the speed camera and suddenly slammed on the brakes slowing down to about 25-30 Mph!! That was very unexpected and in my opinion dangerous - people like that shouldn't be on the roads!
