Menswear. Or Menswe@r.

Anyone remember this band?

When I first saw them on Top Of The Pops, all dressed in suits (Menswear, get it?) I thought they were little more than a boy band trying to jump on the 1995 Indie bandwagon.

But then my sister bought the album, I started to think they were actually quite good. Song like Daydreamer and Stardust rocked, and they stopped dressing like a boyband, and each developed a separate personality.

I went to see them play live at The Junction in Cambridge, and they rocked!

NME hated them. As did most of the rest of the music press. They released a terrible single called "We Love You", and haven't released anything since. Apparently nervous breakdowns and drug and alcohol abuse put an early end to most of their musical careers, except the one guy who went on to join The Montrose Avenue, but I haven't heard from them since 1998 anyway!

So, anyone know if Menswear are still about? Still big in Japan? Touring a seedy local circuit?

Staff Member Loki was in a band that supported them. Unfortunately, they were called Bruce.
