You need a proper ethernet modem to do it that way. And stay away from cheap ethernet modem/routers because the router part of it won't let voice comms work. Try and get a pure ethernet modem.

On W2000 Pro you just right click on the broadand connection (the one you click to launch it), go to properties and click 'share it' (or words to that effect). That's all you have to do.

I recommend Tiscali.

They offer 3 packages - 512k, 1Mb and 2Mb. I can only get 512k where I live but thats quick enough.

Win 2K pro... I'll have to get back to you later on how to set up ICS on that - unless someone can beat me to it...

Hardly anymore. Xbox Live is so much better.

I did go back to SOCOM last night though - got MVP in my first game!

Cheers Bullit,

Just been lookin at BT's broadband options and yes i'll be using my telephone line. I'm no expert on IT but my neighbour was saying something about different connection speeds the service providers offer. Is BT quick?

I've just got hold of an old works Laptop with i think has a network card in it. Presumable it must have as it used to be connected to the works network?? it uses Windows 2000 professional

Are you using your PS2 much for online gaming??

If the Broadband modem is a USB one (which it most likely will be if it's supplied with your connection) you'll need a network card for your PC. Then, buy a CROSSOVER cable (there are two types of cable, the other is STRAIGHT).

You'll need to set up Internet Connection Sharing on your PC (this will require you to have your PC on while playing PS2 online). Let me know what OS you are using so I can tell you how to set ICS up.

Then, simply plug the crossover from your Network adapter to your network card in the PC.

Your PS2 may fail to connect to games like SOCOM on first attempt as it scans the 100mbps connection before going to 10mbps. It's not a big problem though.

Now, you should be online!

Oh, and if you are going to be uding your telephone line (and not cable) go for BT.
