A recent bout of nostalgia resulted in me re-reading some Gamemaster magazines from way back in '95 (ahh...the memories), whereupon i discovered a short round-up of all the consoles currently around. The closing comment for the PC was "experts reckon it's the only format with any real prospects". How right they were. Despite the recent bout of "is the PC dead?" arguments that tend to occur whenever a new console arrives on the gaming scene, the PC seems stronger than ever before. Only today, a national paper's report of E3 declared Republic the game of the show with depth that almost seemed "obsesive", whilst stating that Max Payne demonstraded that "for visuals...the PC is unbeatable". Gameplay and graphics evident on a single format? Surely not! What about the Xbox? As frequently emphasised, it is essentially PC in a box. It's doubtful that developers will want to neglet a market who already own the system - albeit in beige. If they to make their Deus Ex's and their Thiefs for the xbox first, then let them - so long as we get them eventually. PC games, and importantly all the PC mags, web pages, ect, will be around while the playstation 2 is a museum piece. fortunatly all you lot are safe in your jobs.

Yes, but I haven't had to upgrade my Dreamcast or Playstation in the last 5 years to play the new games that came and are still coming out for them.

As for gameplay, I'm one of those people, and I'm not quite alone, that feels that gameplay on a console is just so much more efficient on a console than a PC. All you have to do is pop a disc in and play. You don't have to configure anything, or press a multitude of buttons on your keyboard to fire a sidewinder missile at your selected target, it's all on one pad.

Graphics are definitely superior on PC's, and that should always remain the case, even the XBox won't be able to match the current PC systems for graphical quality when it gets released, but it should beat those PC's that the writers of that article from 5 years were using when they were putting their thoughts onto disc.

My biggest beef with the PC's are the bugs. Anyone finished Black and White yet?

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.

Nothing but admiration. I have been complimented on the church site that I manage through you and everybody thinks I am an IT genius. Your support is unquestionably outstanding.
