Noticing the massive success of controllers that provide physical exercise while in use Nintendo have come up with the “N-Pogo”! In design this will be much like a Pogo Stick that was a crazy back in the 80s and before. But the difference with the N-Pogo is that statistics on the use will be able to be transmitted to the GameCube using the same technology used in the WaveBird.
Statistics that could be used would be things such as the amount of jumps within a certain time period, the height of a jump with it etc. A new improvement over the WaveBird’s wireless technology though will be that the N-Pogo will be able to register its position with the little bit that plugs in the controller port. The advantage of this is that the N-Pogo will be able to track your movements round the room. So instead of just having to bounce up and down on the spot, you may find yourself having to bounce from one end of the room to the other.
Nintendo hope this will appeal to people looking for a new and unique gaming experience, and those who like to try and keep fit while they play.
Personally I think this could be a good idea, and would probably attract many a female gamer to the delights of the GameCube. With all sorts of strange peripherals getting released in Japan all the time, and not many making there way over to these shores, it will probably depends on the Japanese uptake of this new peripheral as to whether or not Nintendo can be bothered to give us UK gamers the chance to sample its delights.
This is a strange unique idea of Nintendo’s, but if it can start a crazy like dance mats then they could be onto a winner, and will help revitalise their name, but if it goes pear shaped then this could be another really bad blow to Nintendo’s image.
Info can be seen here, but you’ll need to be able to read Japanese to understand the text :-

Nintendo have said that they will be demonstrating this at E3 in May, so we will have to wait until then to hear reports from people that have tested this exciting new hardware!
:)
;)
You almost had me fooled, though, too! It wasn't until I read the replies, you see. Nintendo are known for crazy-ideas and they may well need to take-action against SONY and their EyeToy, if they really want that second-place Microsoft seem to think they "have"...
Imagine playing F-Zero or Mario Kart with one, though...
You'd end up either "redecorating" the celining of your bedroom or falling-over sideways so-many times it just wouldn't be fun anymore.
Email Ninty and tell them, you never know.
=D

Even funnier than the spoof.
