Like all consoles before it the GameCube from Nintendo will be released first in Japan then USA months before it is released over here. The same with the X-Box except its likely to be USA then Japan then us. Isn't this unfair? Ok I know we run PAL (Phase Alternating Line) versions and they use NTSC(National Television System Committee) but surely it dosn't take months to perform the changes required.
Maybe its the fact that there are so many other countries and the basic language spoken by each is sometimes different, this could explain why some games aren't released in Europe at the same time as the languages may need to be added. I think that Britain should have its own market. The european market is growing by more and more each year, Britain makes up most of it. Its already outselling USA and isn't too far behind Japan. So why not treat us a little better. Our basic language is English same as the USA so games could be released around the same time easily.
But there is another side to every arguement and this one is no different. Maybe we actualy benefit from getting things after Japan and USA do. This allows us to see what the game is like, also the really bad ones don't get released over here (some may say thats a bad thing, I don't). Also any major faults in the game or console can be sorted before they are released over here.
so what do you all think, should Britain have its own market and no longer be part of the European market? Should we get games and consoles earlier? Are you happy with the way things are?
I am happy with the way things are, as long as developers make good games and consoles then I don't really care who gets what first as long as I get the chance to play it. I would be nice to see games over here earlier but we seem to go un-noticed and are included as Europe. Until the developers realise that the European (or even british on its own) market is a growing one and shouldn't be neglected then things won't change.
Think of it this way. WHERE are the games made? Konami, Capcom, Namco, Bandai, and above all Sega, are all based in Japan. These are some of the biggest publishers and developing houses in the games industry, which is why the majority (numerically) of games are normally released in Japan first, then the US and Europe later if the sales figures warrant it.
England is treated the same as the whole of Europe and producers see "europe" as TOO MANY LANGUAGES, We get near enough the same translated versions as the US but get too many rubbish conversions with slow down and black bars and to top that off we pay the highest game prices in the world.
Thankyou or region X but Gimme an external modchip!!!
uuuurrrrrggggghhh
