Yes I suppose its a good thing that traffic slows down and yes if were realistic the only way thats going to happen is if there are speed cameras but does that mean I have to like them? I was a little shocked to here from the police that we are supposedly meant to be welcoming these new speed cameras.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying speedings good and yea we have to be careful of those vulnerable pedestrians but there s reasonable and theres reasonable. if i'm travelling along a duel carriageway or motorway, straight and clear then why should I have to keep to 70 miles an hour. i find it diffixcult to see a senario where I would have to stop fast. also to put a speed camera just at the bottom of a hill coming from a fast roud is just out of order. Yes your slowing down but to slow enough before the camera is brutal on my poor little brakes.
I don't think people should drive unsafely but you can't help but feel sometimes that tour being used as mighty effective source of income. In fact if we all suddenly started drivly at excessive low speeds then then the traffic police would ahve to find another source of income. Its the same with libraries, if everyone brought their books back on time they'd be stuck for cash. So the reason these cameras are invariably in completely unreasonable places is because they want to catch us out? Well its deabatable, but I wouldn't be surprised.
I'm not completely against speed cameras all together but I think their place is best suited to slowing traffic through villages and towns where cutting speed is important. when it comes to larger roads however I think we should vbe allowed to drive to a safety limit which on large open roads is going to vary depending on the weather and other traffic, but if its all clear then why not allow some speed? They do it in Germany and the evidence shows they don't have more accidents than us. In fact it wouldn't surprise if theres less due to the fact that less frustration causes less reckless driving.
O.k so speedings wrong in some circumstances but lets drive to the road and cut these damned cameras.
"Not a single speed camera in the county has been working for 8 months now"

dont for get to take out the space!
what i do think is out of order is them putting cameras on dual carriege ways and motorways. they are just money making machines.
