Erm... ok this is like announcing my fantastic lack of knowledge of the driving world but...

Racing or Drift???

I don't see the point in having Racing and Drift mode. Any skilled GT player can drift their car around corners in Racing mode anyway...

And, besides, how is Drift mode supposed to work with front-wheel drive cars? For it to do so would be against the laws of physics, cap'n.

I have never been a huge fan of Ridge Racer or driving games.I prefer rallying games like V-Rally 2 and Colin McRae.Well GT3 is the exception

correct me if im wrong. but drift is more like the ridiculous cornering in the ridge racer games.

"Racing" effectively means that the car corners with all four wheels gripping the track.

"Drift" means that the rear of the car tends to step out, rally-style, as you corner.

It all depends on your preferred driving sytle. I use racing, personally.
