I doubt it, that’s the appeal to video games. Sure it is nothing on life but what happens in a game is as close as we will get to in real life. We will never rescue a princess or become a squirrel and blow an entire army of Teddies to pieces.
It is fantasy, it isn't real and it isn't supposed to simulate real life as we can live that ourselves. But what we can't do, what we can only imagine and dream about are only really possible in video games.
How many of you have dreamed of being some action hero saving the world and getting the girl? A lot of you I bet but I hate to break it to you but...
It won't happen, I know hurts but how close can we get to actually living it? With Video games! The more real they become the more you feel like you are that action hero you always wanted to be. Nothing will beat real life but it isn’t as if we just ignore it! We live life and play games. Games are a way of living many different lives.
The video games can explore areas in life we haven’t explored. Maybe if you were born a green clothed elf boy living in Kokiri forest you could rescue a princess and defeat the Evil king. But as we haven’t been born a swearing squirrel or a sexy secret agent from the future then we have to cope with this life. And we can of course escape to that hidden make believe world below our TV when we want to escape it.
