This always happens to me, I watch a couple of items on eBay to see how much they sell for, then when I try to sell exactly the same thing I do so for about £5 less. What a load of crap!
Half an hour before mine ended the exact same thing sold for £23.50, sealed liek mine, with a much shorter discription. It really, really f**** me off.
Bah, you stupid eBay nobs.
Hopefulyl my other tiems will sell well :-D
1) CHANGE THAT FONT - Use good old Times New Roman and stick to 12 or 14 font size. I don't know what that font is you have right now but I was finding I had to really concentrate to read it.
2) Paypal - as you've said. People can pay with credit cards this way and seeing as most of the nation likes running them up this is the best way to get money. People whine about Paypal's rates but they're very good. You lose 3.4% + 20p of the total, but even retail stores lose 2.5% of a credit card transactions.
3) Say you'll send cheque items out immediately but that you reserve the right to wait for cheques to clear. I do this, and if a person has good feedback (50+) there is little reason not to. People don't like to wait, and don't like to use postal orders because they're expensive.
Other than that I don't think you have a problem, you need Paypal, and a regular font.
I suppose it's a risk I'm willing to take, but I don't just go rushing to the bid button.
I always thought Escrow looked like a good service, but then there was a lot of fraudulent Escrow companies popping up so I avoided that.
The thing with a direct transfer is that if somebody is screwing you around, ebay can't do anything to get your money back, wheras I think with Paypal they have the ability to ammend fraud and stuff.
A bit risky I suppose, but I never bid on an itemunless I'm fully convinced it's not dodgy in any way.
Having to mail a cheque and then wait while it arrives, get's cleared and THEN the item dispatches...
Too much of a nuisance!
