After buying a ps2 apart from just playing games, i realised there was no need to buy a seperate DVD player as the built in player seemed to look and sound (if not a little better) so that saved on average £150. Also after buying some more games i tryed pluging in my USB keyboard and Mouse from my PC which also worked with several of my ps2 games (for example unreal tournament) which again saved buying additional ones. I think i could go on alot about the compatibilty of the ps2 for example it is designed for broadband which most PC's areant at present, you can play ps1 games, use ps1 pads, it has a optical out which you can connect to many things like a HI-FI, minidisc player, AMP and lots more, but the strange thing is most people dont realise they can do all this and just think it plays games on your telly, full stop.
Of course you will get people that put it down and disagree, but my opinion is that Sony have made a very clever desision buy making the ps2 compatible in so many ways which benefits and gives the console a very bright future, well done!

And I haven't even got one!
Speaking of multitaps ... me and a bunch of friends spent a night playing eight player Micro Machines v3 once - it was an absolute riot!
