Over half term I went on holiday to Dubai. Where I managed to get a GBA SP and three games. All new, all free. How you ask? Simple.

As a late Christmas present, my Aunt gave my brother and I 250 dhms each (roughly £70 altogether) on arrival. Not bad really, but the real icing on the cake was when we found out that you don't pay tax in Dubai. Hoho - oh yes :D. When browsing an electronics shop, we noticed a dirt cheap GBA SP. So obviously, we pooled our cash and picked one up. The prices were as follows:

GBA SP - 390 dhms = £55.71
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - 10 dhms = £1.43
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past/Four Swords - 60 dhms = £8.57
Pokemon Ruby - 100 dhms = £14.29

Excellent prices. And my Dad made up the extra 60 dhms on top of our 500. So no, it's not technically free - but it essentially was for us.

Initial impressions of Link's Awakening are very good. I'm really enjoying the puzzles and such - it reminds me a lot of the early Pokemon games. Haven't played Link to the Past yet, and my brother's going to complete Ruby first and then I'll play that.

So I'm actually quite pleased with all this. I have a nice blue GBA SP in front of me now and it's pretty chuffing cool, really. I never thought it was that necessary, but at those prices, I couldn't resist. Made me think though, those are the prices we should be paying over here.

I also got a cool watch and a nice pair of shades while on holiday.

So any suggestions for games?

How, how, hoooowww? I really want an SP, and while I'd love to wait for the lvoely (VERY lovely) Limited Edition Leaf Green one, I have very little money.

I'm guessing second hand, and hoping otherwise.

Mario & Luigi's probably the best GBA game out so far, I really, really love it. My review of it's on Syane if you want to know a little bit about it.

When I was in Dubai, it was 6.30am, 35 degrees C, and all the white buildings refelcted the rising suns glare. Desert shimmering + white buildings reflecting + heat = minor discomforts...

Ah yeah, thanks for reminding me. I'll have to grab that, and also probably an old copy of Tetris from somewhere. Just because you've gotta have Tetris.

GBA 2 should have Tetris as a built in game.

What's Mario and Luigi like? Obviously you haven't played it yet, but what's the general concensus?
