No, i think the ending is determined by items collected.

Yeh, damn annoying, and there's no way to get the scan after it's dead. Missed this one as well. You were just one scan off the full ending! :(

I'm up to the last geezer, I just have to be ARSED to fight and beat him now. Currently too busy with FFX-2 though.

I've had the game for just 3 days and I'm WAY past you! :-P
Anysway, that Spider Ball is a long way off and only necessary for secrets.
After beating that plant boss you got your Varia suit which (and this wasn't explained so well in Prime but being a Super Metroid veteran **goes all smug**) protects you from heat so you can go into the depths of the Magmoor caves where the molten lava is! :-)

i didnt think it was that hard. As for gettin past the first part, if u cant do that then good luck with the rest of the game cos it gets much harder. I think u need to get to grasp with the controls to really master the game, get used to using the sideways boost and jump because doing this really helps u dodge attacks.
