A) I currently have 128 megabytes 100 MHz DIMM SDRAM. Is this compatible with the Pentium 3 & Athlon processors mentioned? Do I need the 133 MHz ram or even 256 megabytes of ram?
B) I currently have a PCI graphics card on my PC, can this be used on the new motherboard despite the fact it will have an AGP slot?
C) The operating system I currently use is Windows 98, can this still be used or would I have to upgrade to Windows ME?
D) The hard drive I currently have uses the UDMA 66 connection. The new mother board I would be upgrading to uses the UDMA 100 connection. Will my hard drive be compatible with this?
E) Would a UDMA 100 hard drive be compatible with a UDMA 66 motherboard.
I want to know this just in case I decide to upgrade my hard drive first. I can only afford to upgrade one or two items at any one time.
I now know what I need to upgrade & what I can keep.
Cheers Guys :o)
Yes your RAM is compatible. It may be worth getting another 128MB at some, not essential though.

Yes, it will still work. I'm running an old Voodoo 3 (PCI) card in my mother board, which also has an AGP slot.
C) The operating system I currently use is Windows 98, can this still be used or would I have to upgrade to Windows ME?
Don't ever get ME!! It's crap. I use Win '98 wth an Athlon 1.1Gig and it works fine. If you want to upgrade windows, and you DON'T have to, get Windows 2000, I know someone thats had it for 9 months without crashing.

Yes, it's backwards compatible.

A)Yes, you will need 133Mhz RAM (which is the same price as 100Mhz). As to the amount, 128Mb is acceptable, but in this day and age, 256Mb is optimum (which is only £60 from Special Reserve).
B)You'll have no probs using that PCI graphics card in your new AGP motherboard. However, when you come to upgrade this card, make sure you get an AGP one because they're faster than their PCI equivalants (not that there are many left on the market).
C)Windows 98 is fine. I use it and wouldn't recommend getting Windows ME (the price does not warrant the purchase).
D)Yes, your Hard Disk will be compatible with the connection. Obviously, getting a new UDMA100 HDD would speed things up in that department, but isn't essential.
E)NO! Definately not!
Hope this helps. :)
