last night on the news here in New Zealand they played the first NZ exclusive television trailer for the movie. it will not be shown overseas for another month or so, it looks like our NZ director Peter Jackson is going to very well known by the end of the trilogy.
they showed only a brief glimpse of some of the main charachters and a hint of the effects but it is certainly going to be a must see trilogy of films.
it will be relesed here in New Zealand first as it was mostly filmed and animated here and they spent millions of dollars improving the facilities at Weta studios (special effects studio owened by Jackson)to be able to do it.
I had a chance to go to Weta studios in Wellington NZ a while ago as a friend of mine was one of the armourers for the movie and i got to see them doing some of the special effects for it and i can say what i have seen so far looks amaizing, i can't say what i actually saw as we had to sign confidetiality (or however you spell it) agreements as some of it is very hush hush, but i can say you won't be disapointed in it
If you want to see some of Jacksons previous work (some of witch has a cult following) try "Meet the Feebles" or "Braindead" if you can get them in the UK
Meet the feebles is discribed as "meeting the muppets in hell" and is P*ss funny and every car in the movie is a old
Morris 1000 and the main car is streched limo morry 1000
it really is just a takeoff of the muppets but defenately not for the kids
eg. one of the main charachters is a hedgehog named "wobbit" as can't prononce his R's and wubblewuus pwopoly. anyway when he introduces himself to the stage manager he is told "You may be Wobbit to your friends, but your'e fly -- to me P*SS OFF!!" By the way the stage manager also makes pornos in the basement with a cow with peirced udders and a cocroach who can't get it up, so you can see how sick it is LMAO!!
one of the other charachters who is a Scottish, drug dealing, mohican, punk warthog with chains on his leather jacket and golf clubs (witch also has spikes and bits of meat on it) complains when he is told he cant join the local club and is told "No they don't discriminate against Scot's they just don't like A*sholes in the club house!"
well you get my drift anyway, hope you can get it you'll love it

It's based on the books by JRR. Tolkien like "The Hobbit" etc.
there will be 3 movies in all each based on a different book in the series. they are going to be releasd about a year appart and even though all the filming for all 3 movies has been done they are working on all the animation and special effects for each on turn. they reckon in some parts of the world where the books are popular the releases will be bigger than the Star Wars movies.

He also just about pulled off one of the biggest movie frauds with a movie he made, witch had some American movie collectors (eg.Leonard Malton who has one of the biggest private collections of old movies in the world)salivating as they honestly thought it was a really old movie (as he had made out it was one of the earliest movies ever made) but it was just the quality of effects he had added to it eg. ageing etc. that he had done
