Imagine if Maxis, the makers of the fantastic Sims created Sim Supermarket. Allow me to elaborate.

You play the manager of a supermarket of your choice. The choices are.

Asda.
Tesco.
Iceland.

You can also create your own supermarket and strategically place everything to get more customers.

You will get competition. When you expand to the plan view, you can see that across the street, there are 1 or more ( depending on the difficulty setting ) other supermarkets, your competition, thus bringing a challenge to the game. They will send in people to sabotage the shop and they will try to sneak to the back and steal some of your cargo. However, if you spot them in time, you can call the police and they will hopefully be apprahended. If more than one person is involved, then their supermarket can be bulldozed. However, the tables can turn as you can use the same tactics but the risk is just as great. The violence does not raise the bar any higher than vandalising the supermarket. Original plans were for bombs and guns to be implemented into the game but they wanted players of all ages to enjoy the supermarket experience so the violence was toned down. You begin with no employees but you can hire employees. You must keep their wage reasonable or they will complain and may possibly quit. There will be customers-a-plenty. If you don't freeze the food, the customers will return, asking for a refund, losing you money. That is what makes this game a challenge.

That is only if you choose Story Mode though. If you choose Normal Mode, then you have no opposition but just have to keep your supermarket running correctly.

The sound is that of the Sims, much like the graphics and the controls are the same too, with the build mode, where you can buy new shipments with the money you make ( a £52,000 per annumn salary ).

You can also play in a 2 player split screen mode, where you can compete against a friend to be the superior supermarket chain. Even more of a bonus, if you have internet access, you can compete against a rocket scientist in Houston, a fisherman in Mississippi or a writer in France or all 3 together in a fatal 4 way. In internet play and 2 player play, you or any of the other players can concede, thus shutting down their chain and eliminating himself.

This will bring strange new ground to the gaming market and will be tested by supermarket managers and if successful, managers in training may use it.

The PSOne and PlayStation 2 versions will have 4 player split screen modes, if you have a multi tap.

Sim Supermarket will be availabe on PC, PSOne and PlayStation 2 very soon.

hmmmm, those kinda things don't usually work though! Shame, if they had a big enough budget and some decent developers a good business game could be made.

Really? Cool. I think a WWF Sim would be really cool. People have made their own but with the proper license, it would rule!

Nope. The coolest possible sim is already in development. You get to manage Rock bands. If I remember it's called something imaginative like "Rock Manager".
