Just to play one game?
I have. I upgraded my dads P75 to a whopping 16MB of RAM (from the initial 8MB) to play Grand Prix 2.
It cost me £50 to buy 2 4MB RAM thingies, from SR of course.

There's no point getting anything less than a 1Gig CPU, can pick these up for around £80. Heatsink + fan another £10, PSU another £40. Motherboard about £90.
Then you need a case £???, a mouse £20?, keyboard £10?, CD-ROM £40-50?, Floppy etc.

I did almost the same thing. Got pretty good Pc's now. No upgrade necessary.
I bought the Megadrive just to play Sonic. Didn't realise there were other games.

I've got a 1.1Gig Athlon, 128MB RAM and my trusty old 16MB Voodoo 3.
I'm slowly upgrading the whole thing.
