McDonalds, quite simply there are too many of them. I live in quite a large town but still does on Town really need 5 McDonalds. It's not even as though they are spread all over the district. From my house I can drive any of the 5 McDonalds within 5 minutes. It's not as though they sell different food, each McDonalds sells the same food and as these are not motorway McDonalds the prices are also the same. It's not real competition either as in the town centre there was 1 McDonalds for years which stood across the road from a Burger King. Then out of the blue a Wendy's opened a few hundred yards away from McDonalds. Great competition, err no within 6 months Wendy's was closed and ever since it has been a McDonalds. I dread to think what would happen if Burger King or Kentucky Fried Chicken Closed, Even more McDonalds?
Thankfully over the past 12 months there have been no new McDonalds only a new Kentucky but with the ever-expanding International airport, a new multimillion pound shopping Retail Parks (which are also annoying), prospects of an centre/transport interchange being developed in the town and not forgetting the unfinished leisure park - that already has 2 McDonalds I can only see the town being plagued with even more McDonalds franchises.
