Hello is there anyone who can help me get my xbox linked to my stereo with the optical cable nothing seems to happen? i have a panasonic SK-AC410 and its connected to my xbox with a cheapish cable. Im thinking i may need to get my old standard scart out and use that, cheers

Could be a duff cable - the cable's interior is made of a very fine glass tube which reflects the light (thus transmitting data at light speed)

If there are any imperfections it can ruin the cable.

well i have no clue then as it is an optical in must be the hifi

As long as you have the Microsoft Advanced Scart lead it shouldn't matter what bran Optical Fibre cable you buy providing it fits into the audio in socket on your hifi.

I bought mine from Game with "Only for use on PS2" labelled on the box.

no its was just one i had about the place i found out last night i need the microsoft one. i didnt really think it would make a difference but so say it does. thanks

Is it definitely an optical in port on your HIFI and not an optical out? Also what lead did you buy for your Xbox, was it the official Microsoft advanced lead?

right i have not got that my stereo must be naff cos its got the optical socket in the rear but thats it thanks alot for your help

On my Panasonic hifi, there's a mode "Ext. Opt"

thanks. ive tried that now tho and still nothing? am i ment to have my stereo on AUX?? cos there aint nothing else i can put it on??

Make sure you have your Xbox audio mode set to Stereo as opposed to surround.
