Gameplay:
As there are 4 different versions of Pacman on the teensy cartridge , then the gameplay differs in each version.
PACMAN
This is the original version of pacman (as in the arcades) and can be played viewing it as a tiny picture in the middle of the screen or with a scrolling view (which is best and is much easier to see).
PAC ATTACK
This is similer to Tetris , ghosts from pacman are locked inside blocks and you have to match them up against eachother (some parts of the blocks are solid and others are completely solid) , then every once and a while Pacman will come down and you have to aim him at the ghosts and he'll gobble them up. There are 4 different modes of play , easy (slow) normal (normal speed) hard (pretty quick) hyper (hyper speed !) and there are two versions of play as in tetris 2 , puzzle mode and normal brick dropping mode.
PACMANIA
This is really cool , it is a full 3d version of Pacman and is viewed from the side !!! and you can jump over the ghosts. Also as in the other versions the ghosts get cleverer and quicker when you eat all the pac food on each level , so it mkaes the game just that little bit harder. Pacman has a face on this version aswell , and the little guy looks better than ever. The levels look like they are made up of lego bricks (as the walls look like lego)
PACMAN ARRANGEMENT
Although i like all of the other versions , this one is just simply superb !! I is a tweaked version of the original , the graphics are pretty good and you get as many continues as you like.
It plays just like all the other pacmans, but you get different levels with themes like gardens , dark buildings and stuff like that. The levels are finely detailed so you can see the leaves on the trees and the grains on the floor ..... ah .... takes me back (ooops forward) to the days of zelda on the n64. After youve worked your way through each of the 20 odd levels then you get to this big boss , not too hard , but it's funny when it blows up and all the ghosts go flying everywhere !! hehe.
Sounds :
Chirpy and fun , just like the arcade tunes. After a while you'll be whistling the tune like crazy , just like The Saved By The Bell tune .... da da da dadada saved by the beeeeeeellllllll boooobum . sorry.
Graphics:
As you would expect from a GBA title the graphics are extra sharp and look ACE !!! Some of them are 3d (PAC MANIA) and the rest are all 2d , but they all look great , not too special against the likes or mario kart and tony hawks but great all the same. Namco have used the GBA's 32000 colors feature to the limit as each level is packed full of different colors and shades (especially in the PAC MANIA the 3d one)
Overall:
Because this game is a classic i would give it :
Playability : 10/10
Graphics : 7/10
Originality : 10/10 (old classic but still original)
Sounds : 7/10
Mastery : 10/10
Overall : 9/10
My opinion :
This game will have you ripping your hair out when you get caught by one of those fiendish ghosts , the graphics are good , sounds great , and is very original , well worth the £40 i payed for it !!.
! WARNING !
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE , I ASSURE YOU , YOU WILL , I REPEAT YOU WILL HAVE A HEART ATTACK !! THE HIGH RATE AT WHICH YOUR HEART STARTS TO BEAT WHEN YOU ARE BEING CHASED BY A GHOST IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IS NOT ADVISED , HOWEVER FUN OR THRILLING IT MAY BE !
THANK-YOU
