Why?
Do you not have enough reality in your life?
I remember a time when I used to watch the box for entertainment, but now I could watch a programme about someone working in an airport, cleaning the streets etc etc.
I don't want this, I could go stand in the street if I wanted to see that sort of stuff.
Where's the invention? Where's the thought and energy gone?
And I can picture the ultimate irony:
A tv celeb coming home at the end of the day, turning on the tv and watching a programme about somebody doing a real job, who goes home and watches a programme with that celeb in.
I'm off to read a book and create my own images in my private viewing facility with surround sound, full colour and endless possibilities. Best of all?
No commercials or complaints.
I love my mind, it allows me to go where I want at my own whim.
What I have noticed on TV at the moment is a huge change in the style of general knowledge quiz shows. With the exception of Master Mind GK quiz show used to future medico prizes and friendly hosts. Then came Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (me, by the way) which revolutionised GK TV quiz shows. Since millionaire other quiz's have copied the Millionaire format with higher cash prizes and a serious host (RIP Bruce). Of the shows all have taken over British TV and one has followed millionaire to take over the world. At the beginning I enjoyed Millionaire and The Weakest Link, I could not stand the first series of The People Verses and the revamped show offers only slight improvement. As for the rest I give them a miss, The one with Nick Ross, No One and all the other millionaire copies. I just hope that like Reality TV Shows, Cooking and DIY the "serious" quiz shows find an unfortunate end. Then one day the original greats of all these type of shows may one day be worth watching again.
