It's not actually illegal to chip your PS2 - it's your property and you can do what you want with it. However, like the others said Sony will laugh in your face if it breaks down and you ask them to fix it (note: they'll not laugh, just charge you :)

The chips at the moment are still very fisrt gen adn very home brew. The good stuff won't start surfacing for a while yet. Anything close to reliable requires external devices such as the Action Reply and DVix which would question their long term value.

All that aside, don't do it. If you just want multi-region DVD get DVix (in fact, get a propper DVD player, you'll thank me in the long run). If you want to pirate games please slap your wrists and face the corner.

Dont do it. It does everything Mist!que says, but also takes the income of the developers from buying pirate games, so they have less money to develop new games. Itll cost us all in the long run.

dont, the chip will burn out because there is no room for it, you will loose you gaurentee and if it does break sony wont touch it,
to play region 1 dvds just buy a Region X spez rez have them they are only £18
basicly just dont they are more trouble than they are worth
