If you do make a video and put it on YouTube, make sure your web address is in the video itself somewhere. That along with your YouTube profile and title should get you some traffic (if not from a search engine but from just people who watch your video and see the advert for your site).

I hear some videos help with google's rankings, but not all. If I am right in thinking Google own YouTube, so they do index content pretty quick.

The best thing to do is try it. Google some words to do with your site every now and again and see where you place.

You just reminded me to try mine - I just typed in " ghostsandmore " and now my site and freeola profile are ranking high.

It will take work and continuous tinkering and trying out new ideas, but get it right and you will see the difference.

[S]*staffies...I'm being picked up by some twitter pages and have no idea why - they don't appear to be followers - any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Here's a previous post of mine containing information and further links about YouTube and Google which you may find helpful.

Depending on your website theme or product YouTube can be another useful traffic stream.

Feel free to post a link to your website if you would like people's SEO comments... You've asked a few related questions but it's important to get the basics right first.

There are quite a few older posts here on Freeola about Search Engines which may be worth a read.

From a closer inspection of YouTube.com's linking to external sites they all have the attribute rel="nofollow" which means Google won't give weight to this link to your site as MotoMoto said.

I would advise taking most SEO advice with a heaped tablespoon of salt.

Search engine optimization is a very broad subject and there is no definitive answer to how its done exactly.

I don't think that the comments on Youtube get indexed... nor any personal information. Due to the fact that they can contain absolutely anything and not necessarily the same topic as that of the Video. I might be wrong on this one though.

Hmmm... stated a little while ago that Youtube videos seem to get indexed fairly well. So if possible, add a Youtube video to your web site with a good title :).

Otherwise here is some good advice.

The most commonly used method of getting your web site indexed and ranked well is the use of Keywords in your web site and repeating them. Also you will need to get in terms and phrases that you think people might search for, for example (top of my head), if you sell Double Glazing in Bolton, you would want to state this in your web site. You may also want to state:

Windows in Bolton
Window fitting service in Bolton
and so on.

Its also a good idea to get as many inbound links as possible to your web site, if you haven't already our Customer Sites promotion is an easy way to get a link to your web site from us.

I expect others will be along shortly with more advice.

Check out some of our customer reviews below:

10/10
Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Second to none...
So far the services you provide are second to none. Keep up the good work.
Andy
