It has taken me a long long time to come face to face with my problem. It has been bothering me not for the few months and it is time to admit it to my fellow Nintendo gamers.

My Name is Dringo and I'm a game-buyer-aholic.

The thing is I'm a university student, I have a complex but average social life and I work in the evenings as well. Do I have time for games?

Well I do, Friday afternoons and Sunday's really as long as I'm not doing any work. But other than that no, I have no time to play games. Which is why it is frightening that I was, for a while, proud of my gigantuan Gamecube collection. It finally dawned on me last night when I proudly realised my 61 strong Gamecube collection. But then I looked again. There sat Metroid Prime, touted as the greatest Gamecube title... unfinished. And below is a list of games I have played just the once for an hour or so or have never placed in the machine.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (played for a long 2 hour stint but not had my friend round since).
Beyond Good and Evil (was waiting till I finished Prince of Persia, a game I've still yet to finish)
Resident Evil 3 (a quick 25 minute go so far)
Bomberman Generations (have owned for 4 months and never played)
Enter the Matrix (bought before Christmas, still in shring wrap)
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (got yesterday so let me off)
Harvest Moon (Read above)
007 Nightfire (Bought 4 months ago, played for half an hour and didn't like it)
True Crime: Streets of LA (Played briefly but never got into it)
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Got for Christmas, never played)
Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 (Got Christmas 2003... never really played)
Star Wars: Rebel Strike (Never even taken out the box, never plan to either)
Medal of Honor: Frontline (Played once, never again)
Capcom Vs. SNK 2: EO (Played once, hated with passion)

That's the general feel to my games collection... and with so many "classics" at my control that I have yet to complete, these games I haven't even played just get in the way.

But I'm kicking the habit. Every game I buy for now on MUST not be an oldie that I thought "oh that's cheap" AND for games for now on, including next weeks R-Racing: Revolution I will trade some in either against it or for the full price.

Today I traded Return of the King, Bomberman Generations and 007 Nightifre for Everything or Nothing. I'm now trying to trade 2 games for Mario PArty 5 with my brother and another 5 will pay for R Racing next week.

I'm trying to kick the habit, I will return to these games I should be playing.

If you suffer a similar condition I recommend you come forward immediatly. Game stores around the country CAN help.

Dringo.

I know. I found that little strange, wanting less value for money, but hey, I WOULDN'T understand because I'm not a compulsive buying games junkie! :-P

I was in a similar situation; I used to buy one or two games per week. I had 55 games over 3 formats and I realised that I hadn't finished half of them, so I decided to stop buying as many games.

I've now played through quite a few of the games I had, and like yourself I now trade games in for newer ones so that my collection goes down a little, I've now got about 25 games, and I only intended to get 3 games this year: Driv3r, GTA:San Andreas and Halo 2.

However I've now bought Deus Ex 2 on top of that, and I'm going to get Harvest Moon tomorrow. But considering the amount of games I used to buy, that isn't really that bad.
