What I want you to think about is should developers try and get more help before finalising a game? Maybe by asking fans and gamers like us or maybe combine with another developer and both work on the same game.
I think that both these ideas would improve games, a combination of both could help to produce great quality games that will sell like hot cakes.
Think about it for a moment.
you run around shooting badguys left, right and centre while you try and escape a building with graphics and gameplay like red-faction then you stumble across a car park and steal a car. The game then involve you having to drive to your secret hideout. Maybe driver style or something with GT3 style graphics. Then if this dosn't show a way of being really succesful you ask everyday gamers like people that come on here how they think the game should play. Get input from those who know best, the people who play them all the time.
I think developers work on their own too much, I know its probably because they want more money and even though their games aren't the best they could be people still buy them. But maybe some developers will realise that working alongside others could help produce games that are greater than those already out today.
This may even help them get more money (At the end of the day thats what they want). Surely better quality games would sell more?
So what do you think? Would you like to see developers work together for some games or would you like to see them ask gamers for advise. Answers to the usual address please. (HERE)

So where does the plan fall apart? Well, there are 3 ways:
WAY 1:
designer1: "Lets make a racing game"
2:"Cool, let's make it really realistic"
1:"Nah! Have it on alien planets... how about the moon?"
2:"Brilliant! Let's do it... how about no gravity?"
1:"And weapons that you need to kill the martians"
2: "lets go!"
Get the idea... it does happen you know! Developers need to take a step back a say "why am I doing this?" Is it just a quirky idea, or something more?
WAY 2:
Forsaken was meant to be a great game. The developers made one level, and then they all went and tested it. They knew every songle part of it, and thought it was great, so did the rest of the game. And then sold it. Anf then realised that because they knew every inch of the game, it was actually really, really hard! And hence didn';t sell well
WAY 3:
Poor programming: Superman 64 etc
NiGHTS!
Ok maybe not all of us. Im a bit older than most on here( im 19) so "kiddie2 games don't appeal to me that much but if people around my age also had a little input then games could have more depth and appeal more.
This goes straight to the development team, so at least there's one company out there that listens to gamers. I'm sure all the other software companies do this as well, market research is invaluable when bringing out a new product, we just don't see a great deal of it because each individual software house does their research their own way, not necessarily through a mailing list.
You never know, on the sly they might all just be reading the FOG everyday and getting ideas from there.
Then it gets shown to developers or they buy the mag and read for themselves.
But it would be good as most of us know what certain developers are good at and if you got the right combination of developers altogether to make a game for say the PC or somethin really powerful in a console then it would be interesting to see what they could come up with.
Or if a developer only makes for a certain console like Rare and Nintendo then it could be made for a variety of platformes like the HArry Potter games.
They are coming out on all platformes!
I must say an interesting post and a good point made from Toads!
