Oops!!

I just read your tutorial on establishing a secure FTP session with Filezilla.

On connecting, I got a rather large box detailing an expired certificate.

Just an FYI.

Neil

EDIT: On continuing with the connection, after a few seconds, the Filezilla log said:

Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

I use a Belkin F5D8633 modem/router with SPI. I have no idea if SPI can be disabled, having looked through all the settings.

I use Comodo firewall. I have no idea if this has SPI, or if it can be disabled if it has.

Do you have SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) enabled on your router or firewall software? If so try turning it off and trying to connect again. This can sometimes cause issues with FTP connections.

FYI

The session still fails with:

Command: MLSD
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Yeah I clicked through the warning but then the connection stalled.

You should be able to accept the certificate. The purpose of it is so the the FTP connection is encrypted. It's a self signed certificate hence the warning.

I've just tried a secure session again with Filezilla.

I'm getting an info box saying the certificate is unknown (plus details).

I'm still getting the timeout error as previously mentioned.

The certificates for FTP across all the VIP servers have now been updated so you shouldn't see this problem any more.

I'll get this looked into tomorrow but for now you'll have to use normal FTP, sorry!
