Or are we?
Think of all the games you have played, now think of all the games that have at the time been what you would call one of the best you have played. Now think of the worst game you have seen. The price they started selling at was probably very similar. So why dont the poorer quality games cost a little more. I know they get reduced in price much quicker than the likes of MGS but surely a lower starting selling price would help sell more early on.
I also thought about why the number of good quality games isn't higher. Why do we only see a few games that make owning a console seem so much better. You would think that with the way technology has advanced and the way it keeps advancing that we would see more great games.
I have seen quite a few games released for the PS2 N64, PSX, DC, PC that wouldn't even have been great about 5 years ago, Why do they even release games that don't seem to live up to todays standards. I know what you will say to this "You don't have to buy it if it dosn't appeal to you." but games like his seem to bring a console down compared to its rivals, most people remember the great games but a good few also remember the bad ones. So as gamers should we have a right to demand better quality titles for our consoles. I think we should, we have to pay upwards of £35 for a game, the least we expect from it is that it will actually be enjoyable and that we wouldn't think it was a waste of money.
I would like to hear your views. Do you think that developers should try harder to produce better quality games? Should poor quality games cost the same as the great games?

Normally a game is rubbish because it is rushed. Only an exceedingly small number of games have been terrible from their conception.
But why are games rushed? Why aren't they worked on until they are ready? Simply put, its down to the publishers. The publishers give a tmescale, i.e, they say "We want the game ready for next christmas." Or whatever.
The developers have to then get the game ready for that time. The publishers are the ones that want the game out by a certain time, so it can start selling and start getting them some money.
If the game isn't ready by that time, then most developers say "Sod it." and release it anyway. This is where most of the mediocre games come from.
The better games come from companies who are able to say "It'll be out when it's finished." Games like Max Payne, MGS2, M:SR etc etc.
It takes a special sort of publiser to accept slippages, simply becuase they run the risk of getting less money. Publishers like Sgea and Nintendo are prepared to wait until the games are finsihed, which is a good thing.
