Well, ive heard people saying here and there that they thought the game had 'jerky' moments in it, but i can't say ive noticed. I think its pretty smooth.
Whenever ive seen vids off the net, they've always been really bad quality. Your better off checking a free dvd that comes with one of the mags. That'll have a properly captured piece of footage. (mind you, with the price of the mags, you could rent the game and play it yourself for cheaper) :)

i was jus looking at some videos of the game i downloaded off the net, and the game seems a little slow compared to other basketball games. is this noticable while playing the game?

Yeah, ive got it, and i LOVE it. I also had NBA live but i prefer this game. I found the standard 'back and forth play' a little repetitive after a while on the Live series, but as this is a bit more lighthearted, exagerated and SSX-like, it just offers a whole lot more i think.
I'd say get it, if you already like Basketball, and if you dont, then at least rent it, but this is the sort of game where you dont have to be a fan of the sport to get into the game and love it. :)
