Late last October i bought MGS and special missions in a bundle for £24.99 (bargain) and after a long wait for my PS2 i was finally able to play them but special missions did not work, I took it back to EB about 5 times nd exchanged CD's then they eventually popped it on their PS2 to see the problem.
Same thing "error Wrong Disc" the guy gave me a full refund for my troubles (nice bloke) and gave me the game incase i ever get a chance to play it on a PSone and now it's what late July an just today it's booted up and i've had 30 mins on it just to find you have to complete some of the modes just to play the others, oh man.
A while back i got i touch with a xplorer code producer an he spent a night trying to bypass this silly check if you have mgs disc and came up a code to boot into the opening FMV that leaded to the menu, aha class spent ages inputting the code and the xplorer disc crashes alot on the PS2 just to find that the disc STILL won't get passed the stupid confirmation screen.
We came to the conclusion that it's actually the region check which has to have the exact PSone hardware and won't work if emulated on the PS2 and no codes seemed to be working on the PS2.
If Konami would get off their behinds and release the intergral version of MGS with both game on one "bootable" disc then it would run fine, This STILL isn't on the incompatiblilty list for some unknown reason but it should be.
If anyone has anyway of getting this class bonus disc to run on a PS2 be sure to let me know
Wow that was long, sorry
