The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Could you please post links to the ‘several websites’ (to quote your own words) where you first read this information? At least this will enable us all read the original news story you are using as the basis for what you have told us.
This will prove that all you were doing was relaying a news story that you had read elsewhere. If this does indeed turn out to be the case, then I for one would apologise to you. There is nothing wrong with relaying a story you have read elsewhere to this forum.
However, until I see a link and read the news story for myself, I suspect this info has come from either a friend at school or your own head.
So, a link please.

Do you realise just how daft that idea is? If they change the machine so that developers need to code unique versions, it is no longer a PlayStation 2 - it's a whole other format. And few if any developers are going to bother developing games for a technically different version of an old machine.

SCEE President David Reeves reveals the future of Sony's hardware plans...
...
Reeves continued by commenting on a "new" piece of hardware premiering at E3 -- maybe the PStwo? "... Maybe also, something we haven't talked about, is that we made a change from PlayStation to PS one, so we may, in the course of time, make some cosmetic changes to PlayStation 2 and come out with something that's a little bit sexier, but probably no changes to specs or anything like that."

In particular:
I/O Processor
Playstation 1 CPU
33.8MHz or 37.5MHz selectable
32-bit bus
This I/O chip is actually the CPU from the original Playstation. Because of it's inclusion it allows the Playsation 2 to play Playstaion 1 games.
You will find this mentioned on most sites which provide PS2 specifications.

Everybody blames you because you are a Newbie. Just wait 4 more days and you'll be a regular.

Maybe that's it! Better textures, I never said it will be the next Gen, I jyst said "Improvements", and I don't even know what kinds of improvements.

That's not what I said. Games production will continue normally just as before, they won't release every game for both consoles, just some selected titles.

That's completely wrong, I have read HERE, on THIS SITE before that ps1 games are emulated on the ps2, that's why many ps1 games have problems when played on the ps2, I've had many problems myself.
And why does everybody blame me ? I didn't make that up, and I don't care if it's right or wrong, and I didn't even like the idea in the first place, I just wanted to tell everybody about some news that I have read in several websites.
You're having a laugh, right?
As stated by people in this thread, and more importantly, people with a brain, the PStwo is just going to be a case redesign. As the PlayStation ---> PSone situation was.
And people wonder how Internet rumours get started. All it takes is three people with the intelligence level of Cusack and off we go...
