Sony has announced that there are going to be 2 versions of the ps3. One with all the extras and the cinematicsm, and all these things like in psx, which costs 700 euros. And the other version will only play games, it's going to cost 200 euros. They said that they are going to release 2 versions to make the ps3 available for all kinds of customers.

Yes, I remember some VIP (can't remember who) at Sony said he was looking towards 30Gb/sec transfer rates soon!

I expect the souped up version will be able to record TV programmes and play them back for you, but that's really about it. The two version scenario was discussed over a year ago in the Japanese press.

However the other interesting rumour flying about is that Sony are moving towards downloadable games rather than going through retailers, but I don't expect to see that until the PS4 because most of us are still stuck with 512k broadband.

I blame Meka Dragon for this because he used to work for BT.

Checkout the psx specs. It will be similar, or in other words, it will have cinematic capabilities.

What kind of things will the 700 euro PS3 have that the 200 Euro PS3 doesn't.
