I have not played PS2 myself much, but my kids do. My son has an ultimate codes for use with Grand Theft Auto Vice City. It worked in his older PS2 just fine. This Christmas, we bought a second PS2 and gave the old one away just last week. This code disc will not play in the new PS2. It just keeps showing, insert a Playstation Disc/CD (something like that). Does anyone have a clue why this is happening, or what I can do to fix it????
Is this 2nd PS2 a brand new one or was it second hand?
Either way, it could be suffering from Disc Read Error (surprisingly common in PS2s - although I've never experienced it in the multiple PS2s I've owned).
I suggest trying a CD/DVD drive cleaning kit. If that fails, take it back or contact Sony for a repair/replacement (if it's new, this will be done at no cost - except the postage to send the PS2 in to Sony).
Since I have had no experience in Disc Read Error (DRE), that's the best advice I can give. If there is a better solution, someone else on here should have no problem helping out.
