The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Either way, it could be suffering from Disc Read Error (surprisingly common in PS2s - although I've never experienced it in the multiple PS2s I've owned).
I suggest trying a CD/DVD drive cleaning kit. If that fails, take it back or contact Sony for a repair/replacement (if it's new, this will be done at no cost - except the postage to send the PS2 in to Sony).
Since I have had no experience in Disc Read Error (DRE), that's the best advice I can give. If there is a better solution, someone else on here should have no problem helping out.
