On my 'Xbox days' (the days the gf leaves me alone to get some gaming in), I'm now left with nothing to do. Single player games can't keep me entertained enough and I start getting frustrated.
It's all to do with BT and their 'Broadband'. For some reason, I'm getting less than a 56k connection - and that's when I can connect. As soon as I get online, everything 'useful' like MSN, Steam, Zonealarm etc. just shut down leaving me with a really sluggish browser. If I attempt to go on Live, I just drop unexpectedly from games - if I can get into them in the first place that is.
I have phoned BT about the issue and they are trying to shift the blame onto my equipment. "By the looks of it, your ADSL line doesn't like your router", right, so that's why it's been working perfectly since Christmas, never dropping or slowing down - how Broadband is meant to be. I know this is a load of tripe as I have unplugged all the network/modem cables and even tried connecting with BT's supplied modem - still no joy. Don't worry, I'll be seeking some kind of refund for the time I have been without broadband - nobody has reported our exchange is having problems, so they can't use that excuse, all they've said is it's my fault. Just you wait *shakes fist at BT*...
Anyhoo, I tinkered a little bit last night and managed to get a half-decent connection without the microfilter installed. Stupidly enough, I didn't try Live. This morning it seems the connection has again been lost.
Meh, that went on a bit, even strayed from the point somehow. And you probably won't read it, but don't take Broadband for granted - it really does make a huge difference to your life.
Sorry to have wasted your precious few minutes.
If it drops again, I'll be straight back onto BT.
Me = happy again, yey!
Thanks for your input though, it's nice to know someone cares :D
And that there is no such thing as an ADSL line not liking particular routers etc. It's ADSL or it isn't, there are no compatability issues between ADSL products. Well, other than Mac and PC versions.
