There are plenty of them around in Veo Lu Sluice if you beat those bird creatures, trust me when you get one you get hundreds in there. Also once you get into shella you can buy them for 50 gil although you only really need to have one to get in.

If you have a Yuke in your party, get him to speak to the man at the start of Shella and he will automatically open the bridge. If you dont have a yuke then jus tcreate a new character in the set out menu. This way you also get more families to trade with in your home town.
