In my opinion, the console wars can only be a good thing.
No one can reasonably deny the fact that Gamecube will have some fantastic games on it that won't be available on any other platform, as will PS2 and XBox.
With such heated competition between the 3 platforms, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will be forced to come out with high quality original games in order to stay in the race, all to the benefit of us, the gamers.
I really don't see the point in s**gging off each console, as each has its own highlights and lowlights. For example, so what if PS2 has a DVD player - in a few years so will most households. So what if GC is designed to be simple to develop on - surely this gives developers a chance to write better games without wrestling with the platform. So what if Microsoft is a PC developer - there are many many excellent PC games out there (look how many of you are salivating at the thoughts of getting Halflife onto the PS2).
I could go on, but you get the point.
I have played games on all formats, and I do own a good few different consoles. Again each has its good points, and equally each has its failings.
I've been playing games for a long long time, and these silly discussions are just a repitition of everything that has come before. I can remember the days when everyone took sides about the ZX Spectrum vs Commodore64 vs BBC vs Amstrad. What is so different now ?!
What I would really like to see is what could be produced if the 3 came together. Wouldn't that be interesting ?
So come on, give up the s**gging as it is not accomplishing anything more than cluttering up a forum that could be (and usually is) used for more intelligent discussion.
Good idea about the Jerry Springer show though
GET THESE NINTY'S SODS OUT OF THE SONY FORUM
> What is this ? - the Jerry Springer show for console fans ?
Now there's an entertaining thought!
"Meet Hank. Hank and his PS2 were very much in love, until he came home and found it in bed with a Dreamcast. PS2 says it still loves Hank, but that Dreamcast makes it feel better about itself."
Hank then runs across the studio to attack Dreamcast, but is held back by a burly minder, as the mindless studio audience burst into chants of "Ger-ry, Ger-ry"...
